You’re buying a place with security devices
A new house may come with an existing security system. All the alarms and cameras work, are hung in the right spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, just turn on the phone to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no integration problems, and they could offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a fast trip, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new components -- unless you make additions.
The previous homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer fee to make the transfer simpler. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment or smaller home, you keeping the Vivint contract might be a condition of the sale.
You need to move and take your old devices with you
You might need to bring along your favorite home security components with you to a new place when you move. That’s fairly simple to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are portable. You can take down each device yourself or call a Vivint installer to come and take care of everything. Then our installers will set up the same devices -- and any smart devices you want to add -- in the new house. The home security contract will remain the same.
